We finally made it to the Canary Islands! To be honest, we didn’t really have a clue about Lanzarote and Co. A good reason to go to TUI Blue Flamingo Beach in Playa Blanca in the very south of Lanzarote during the spring holidays. With children and siblings means that four of us travelled together, Jules with her 13-year-old son Justus, toddler Jola (1 year) and me as an aunt. It takes almost five hours to get to the volcanic island by direct flight from Berlin, and of course the shuttle bus takes us to the hotel complex without a long wait.

Familytime at Flamingo Beach
The TUI Blue Hotel Flamingo Beach on Lanzarote is located directly in the town of Playa Blanca. The hotel complex is self-contained, but is also in the middle of the beach promenade, as Flamingo Beach is a public beach. In keeping with the style of the island, the hotel complex is not a huge tower, but consists of many small holiday bungalows.

Each flat or room at the TUI BLUE Flamingo Beach is in a small low-rise building, usually with a view of the sea, a small terrace and a kitchen. Here you can prepare anything from porridge to a small snack. The holiday complex is fully equipped for small children, so that high chairs and such can also be requested without any problems. During the day and in the evening, there are entertainment programmes for the little ones, so that kidstainment is well taken care of.

Pool or beach

As always, the same question: pool is cool or beach time? With the large pool, the swimmer’s pool and another large pool for young and old and its several pools for babies and toddlers, TUI Blue Flamingo Beach is well equipped for pool fans. And that’s especially great for the kids. We adults are more the sea goers and beach girls in this case.

Flamingo Beach is also ideal for children, as there are breakwaters in the water, so there are no high waves. It’s funny to observe how strongly the tides cause the beachgoers to wander, so if you want to spend the whole day here, you should park your towel high up. Besides, there are many restaurants, supermarkets and ice-cream shops along the beach promenade, so that long walks to the centre of Playa Blanca are a lot of fun.
Excursion volcanic island Lanzarote

Somehow, as a family, we can never sit still and always have bumblebees and want to experience and see more. Classic excursions can be booked via the TUI Blue App or with the guides on site. If you want to see more of the island, you should book a rental car directly in good time. Unfortunately, we were too late, but it would be worth it in any case, because there is so much to discover. Lanzarote is known for its always warm weather, its beaches and its volcanic landscape. The island is about 60 kilometres long and up to 25 kilometres wide, so all places can be reached quickly. The most bizarre thing is that almost the entire island is characterised by black craters from wine cultivation and lava soil. The island therefore appears very special and unique and invites you to further adventures!
