When I pack my suitcase I always bring…
Different packing lists are required for different types of holidays. I’ve created a general provisional travel checklist for you to use as a guide. Of course, I don’t know where your journey is going – so my tip: Inquire in advance about the weather conditions at your holiday destination, then choose the right holiday packing list and fill in the blanks.
First things first: money. Be sure to consider your finances, because you can’t really get far anywhere without money.
- Bank card/Debit card
- Credit card
- Foreign currency
- International phone number for your bank
ID cards and documents:
What documents do I actually need for my trip? Keep in mind that international travel is subject to different rules and regulations than you may be used to. If in doubt, you can get information in advance from the Federal Foreign Office.
- Identity card and/or passport
- Driver’s license (if applicable)
- Health insurance card and, if applicable, Proof of international health insurance
- Document folder (waterproof is preferable)
- Train ticket or plane ticket
- Accommodation documents (confirmation, receipts)

First aid kit:
Of course, we all hope to stay healthy and happy whilst on holiday. But what if the air-conditioning in the plane or adjusting to the tropical climate takes a toll on our immune system? I recommend you pack a small first aid kit to ensure you have the right medication on hand in the worst-case scenario that you’re sick on vacation.
