The 5 best things to do in Agadir

The colourful hustle and bustle of charming little streets, the hustle and bustle of traders in the souks and a scent of sweet spices that promises me a touch of 1001 Nights. The Moroccan city of Agadir, located on the foothills of the Antiatlas Mountains, brings you a little bit closer to the oriental flair!

Perfect for your stay is the TUI BLUE Riu Tikida Beach, located directly on a kilometre-long sandy beach.

However, Agadir has so much more to offer than beautiful sandy beaches and Moroccan markets. For you, I have made my way to the 5 best things to do in Agadir. Have fun reading!

The new medina of Agadir

In Arabian or North African cities, the medina is the name given to the old town.

The special feature of Agadir is that the old medina was almost completely destroyed by an earthquake in 1960. Shortly afterwards, the Italian Coco Polizzi took on the great task of rebuilding the old town near Agadir, true to the original.

Today, you can easily get to the Ben Sergao district by taxi or rental car for a tour. As you stroll through the medina of Agadir, you will surely notice the different scents of the spice mixtures of Moroccan cuisine. In many small souks, a multitude of traders offer you handmade works of art, jewellery or other sweet treasures. As a tip: Dare to bargain, it’s the custom here. Above all, be careful that the traders don’t rip you off 😉

During a walk through the old town, the Moroccan architecture is particularly impressive. Many traditional materials such as wood, stone and earth were used to build the city. It somehow gives me a feeling of warmth, what do you think?

Agadir Crocodile Park

A little highlight for all animal lovers and one of the top things to do in Agadir is a visit to the crocodile park. Hopefully you won’t be afraid of the reptiles, because here you’ll get the chance to get up close to over 300 animals and maybe even help feed them. Walk through the park and take a break among the refreshing waterfalls, cascades and sea of water lilies. In the summer months, the park is even open until 11 pm. Watching the animals at night is a special experience, especially for children.

But please stay on the paths, lest another little accident happen 😉

An untouched oasis in the middle of a paradisiacal valley surrounded by high cliffs and idyllic waterfalls will enchant you. Here you will feel as if you are in another world. The valley was created by French colonists at the beginning of the 20th century and is the ideal place to explore Agadir’s nature and take a refreshing dip at the same time.

How about buying snorkelling equipment in the surrounding shops or renting it from diving companies and exploring the underwater world? Morocco is also a paradise for the surfing elite. Of course, you can also try your hand at surfing and let yourself be carried by the waves.

Just here to relax? No problem either. Let your feet be tickled by the waves during a long walk on the beach and simply enjoy the warm rays of the sun.
