Popular attractions in Gümüldür
Yalı Castle Aquapark – Family water fun ?

An absolute winner for families! This medieval-themed aquapark combines knights’ romance with water thrills. Here you can plunge down spectacular slides into the cool waters or relax in the wave pool. There’s also an evening night market next door.
Ancient Claros – Time travel to the gods

Just a stone’s throw away, the Sanctuary of Apollo awaits you. This ancient oracle site was once as famous as Delphi! Take your time here – the larger-than-life statues and mystical ruins tell stories from ages past.
Photo tip: The best shots are in late afternoon, when the warm light makes the ancient stones glow! ?
Thermal spring ancient Roman bath
Above the village lie the ruins of a Roman Bath. The hot springs still flow and the natural bathing pool is always freely accessible. Unfortunately, this also means nobody looks after cleanliness and lots of rubbish is left behind by visitors. You’ll find it on Google Maps by searching “Roman Geothermal Bath Ruins”.
The best beaches in Gümüldür
Gümüldür Halk Plajı – Your award-winning dream beach
The public beach of Gümüldür is very popular with locals. Nearly 700 metres of fine sand and the Blue Flag for cleanliness – what more do you need for the perfect beach day!
Ürkmez Halk Plajı – Kilometres long with promenade

The public beach in the Ürkmez district stretches for kilometres, and besides swimming and sunbathing, you can sit comfortably in a café or take a stroll. The beach is sand and pebble. Right on the beach sits TUI BLUE Angora Beach with its own loungers and parasols.
Akvarium Plajı – Like diving in an aquarium
Snorkelling is brilliant here – the water is crystal clear thanks to the pebble bottom. If you have sensitive feet, pack some beach shoes. The colour of the sea alone at this stretch of beach makes up for it not being a sandy beach. Bonus: No sandy feet or beach towels!
Historical sights

Notion – Where merchants once moved the world
The ruins of the ancient Port of Colophon tell of a time when ships from all corners of the world docked here. Not much remains, but the view alone is worth it. A few kilometres away is Claros, with statues, columns and inscriptions. 18 kilometres further north is Colophon, whose ruins lie nestled in greenery. Connect these three sites with a walking tour and you’ve got the perfect day trip!
Day trips to ancient wonders
From Gümüldür you can easily reach the famous ruined cities:
- Ephesus – The best-preserved ancient city in Asia Minor. A must-see!
- Priene – Spectacularly perched on a mountainside
- Miletus – Home to one of the largest ancient theatres
- Didyma – Site of the massive Temple of Apollo
My tip: If you only have time for one, choose Ephesus, but get the ticket that gives access to everything. The covered area is particularly worthwhile! ?️
Nature experiences around Gümüldür
North of Gümüldür stretch beautiful hills and valleys dotted with fragrant olive and mandarin groves. This region is famous for its sweet Satsuma mandarins, harvested between October and January and even exported to Europe.
Hike to Cape Sıcaksu and the Bölme Peninsula
A particularly rewarding hike takes you around Cape Sıcaksu, located about 10 kilometres west of Gümüldür. This route is a real insider tip for nature lovers and adventurers who want to wander off the tourist trail.
Cape Sıcaksu (meaning “Hot Water Cape”) gets its name from a natural hot spring that flows directly into the sea. This unique spot is a popular destination for boat trips from Gümüldür and Sığacık.
The real treasure of this hike are the secluded beaches accessible only on foot or by boat. These hidden coves offer crystal-clear water and complete solitude – perfect for anyone seeking the authentic Mediterranean experience.
My tip: Pack plenty of water and provisions, as you won’t find any tourist facilities in this unspoilt landscape. In return, you’ll be rewarded with spectacular views over the Aegean and undisturbed bathing coves that look like something from a picture book.
