First things first: It’s worth booking accommodation that includes the BergePLUS guest card. With this card, you can take part in the guided snowshoe hikes for free! I had the BergePLUS card from my accommodation TUI BLUE Montafon in Tschagguns<\/a> and it was worth it, just like the hotel.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n The snowshoe hike around Gargellen starts at the car park in Gargellen, which is easily accessible by bus and car. Gargellen is the highest village in the Montafon and therefore offers ideal conditions for snowshoeing, especially from January to March.<\/p>\n\n\n\n I did this snowshoe hike myself. As it only passes 200 metres in altitude, it is a leisurely tour that is also suitable for the less fit. You are spoilt with great views of the mountain landscape and can watch the skiers racing down. A forest path leads up first, which turns into a grass path after about 1.5 kilometres. This path winds slightly uphill through beautiful clearings along the Gargellner Alpe.\n\n\n<\/p>\n\n\n\n I took part in a guided group tour organised by Montafon Tourismus and the guide showed us how to use the avalanche transceiver that everyone was given and how to behave in an emergency.<\/p>\n\n\n\n The Kristberg Cableway takes you from the valley station of Silberberg up the mountain. There, snowshoe hikers are rewarded with a panoramic view over the peaks of the R\u00e4tikon, Verwall, and Silvretta ranges. With only 250 metres of elevation gain, this hike is also suitable for families with children. I went cross-country skiing up there<\/a> and can tell you that the views and the snow-covered forests are enchanting! After the snowshoe hike, you can stop by the Knappastoba or the Panoramagasthof Kristberg and treat yourself to a well-deserved meal.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Take the Vermuntbahn cable car and the tunnel bus up to Lake Silvretta. Depending on which route you take, you can spend a whole day snowshoeing around Lake Silvretta or take part in the official guided tour with a difference in altitude of 250 metres and enjoy the view of the Silvretta mountains at over 2000 metres. You can stop off at the Gasthaus Piz Buin or Silvrettahaus.<\/p>\n\n\n It’s hard to say, each one has its own appeal. I would base my decision on whether I am more interested in forest bathing or panoramic views and also on my own fitness level. If you have your own equipment with snowshoes and poles, you can set off directly from the starting points. The only additional costs are for the mountain lifts. You can hire snowshoes from Intersport in Schruns, for example (prices can be found on the website). My tip is to take part in a guided tour via Montafon Tourismus, which you can either do at a reduced price with the Montafon Guest Card or for free with the BergePLUS Guest Card. The equipment is included. So look for a place to stay that participates in the BergePLUS programme, such as the TUI BLUE Montafon<\/a>, and gives you a BergePLUS card.\n\n<\/p>\n\n\n\n After a day in the cold, the best accommodation is the one that gives you good opportunities to warm up and relax, for example with a sauna or spa.
