Ok wow! How long have I not been to the Atlantic? And why haven’t I been to this fascinating cliff of Falesia before? At the end of August, we took full advantage of the Portuguese high season at the Adults Only TUI Blue Hotel Falesia. The hotel is located in the middle of the small fishing village of Olhos d’Agua, directly on the picturesque cliffs of Falesia. The beach, including the ebb and flow of the ocean, is breathtaking and you immediately catch yourself just gazing at the water for hours. A real zen moment.
TUI BLUE Falesia: Time out in the Algarve
August is one of the best times in summer to treat yourself to a wonderful summer holiday in the south of Portugal because it’s just not too hot, we were told. We were guests at the TUI BLUE Falesia, which is open to adults only. The hotel resort is located above the cliffs and of course has a place by the pool for pool fans. During our visit, we enjoyed a huge king-size bed and a fantastic view of the sea. Falling asleep to the sound of the Atlantic Ocean was included.

In addition to half board, it is of course also possible to book all inclusive. We couldn’t resist a visit to the in-house restaurant and the sumptuous fish dishes. In addition to the delicious and regional buffets, the in-house à la carte restaurant or a BBQ evening can be booked. Of course, those who fancy small eateries can also walk to the fishing village in a few minutes.
Mega beach – Praia da Falésia
The beach below the cliffs of the TUI BLUE Falesia Hotel is simply amazing. The so-called praia (beach) is part of a continuous strip of beach almost six kilometres long. The high cliffs in deep shades of red to white are so impressive that we took what felt like a million pictures of this natural wonder. The natural spectacle of low tide and high tide on the Atlantic is also admirable. There is a small bay directly below the hotel, but we recommend going to the huge beach. Here, sunbeds can be rented, but if you walk further, you will find a very empty beach. A walk is well worth it, it’s great!
Small excursion tip: Saturday is market day in Loulé

Fantastic excursions can be booked with the TUI Blue Guides, and a car can also be rented at the hotel. This time, we made an excursion to Loulé on our own via the taxi app. It only takes 25 minutes by car to get to the lively town. Unfortunately, we missed the fact that there are obviously two markets. One with terrible trash and the one in the city centre. Here it’s mainly a farmers’ market, where there are fresh fruit and vegetables, plant seedlings and in the covered market based on the Arab architectural model. Here you can buy mainly fresh seafood and lots of fish.
In the side streets there are nice shops and boutiques. A stroll through the town and through the hustle and bustle of the market is worthwhile and rounds off the holiday feeling. This time, however, we opted primarily for the beach excursion. Such a wonderful place and such nice people! We look forward to seeing you again!
By the way: At the TUI BLUE Falesia you can do a workation, a mixture of holiday and work.
