In the coming spring, the world’s first TUI BLUE SELECTION hotel opens its doors in Tuscany. This popular holiday destination in Italy is well-known for its picturesque landscape and excellent cuisine. Marco Metge, hotel director of Il Castelfalfi by TUI BLUE SELECTION, spoke with us and answered questions for Tuscany fans and those who want to visit the region.

Marco, you’re instrumental Marco Metge Director Il Castelfalfiin raising a new member of the TUI BLUE family. How do you feel about that?

Excellent (laughs). When you accompany a project from the beginning, it becomes a heartfelt affair. To see how the first TUI BLUE SELECTION in the world assumes shape here in Tuscany makes me feel really fortunate. My team and I, we’re all looking forward to the opening in the spring of 2017.

What has been your personal highlight around this project?

There are several! The hotel’s location in the heart of Tuscany is unique. Our guests can expect untouched Mediterranean nature. Nonetheless, the cultural centers of Florence, Pisa, and Siena are close by. Guests who want to relax can take advantage of all the resort amenities, like the on-site 27-hole golf course, our spa, or the excellent restaurants. Those who prefer Italian culture or the Tuscan countryside can discover the region on their own.

What excites you aside from the tourist highlights?

Aside from that, I’d like to highlight my team. We’ve now worked together on Il Castelfalfi for eleven months, and I have rarely experienced such motivated colleagues anywhere else in the world. Everyone is fired up for the project and for Tuscany.

That sounds really exciting. What’s your opinion on the concept of TUI BLUE and TUI BLUE SELECTION?

At TUI BLUE, the interests and wishes of the guests are at the the centre. For me, it’s particularly exciting to think even beyond that. Together with our colleagues in Hanover, we’re working on a concept that meets the highest demands. What we’ve achieved so far fills me with pride.

Il Castelfalfi is the last piece of the puzzle in the overall concept of the Toscana Resort Castelfalfi. The resort will be enriched by a top-class hotel, because we know what our guests want. These include comfortable king-size beds, bathrooms with rain showers, free WiFi everywhere, culinary delicacies of the region, and exceptional service.

One final question: What should every one of your future guests experience during their visit?

Each guest should take the time to watch the sunset over the rolling hills of Tuscany from the terrace with an evening glass of red wine.
