09 Oct TUI BLUE Fieberbrunn: The Second TUI BLUE in Austria

We checked out the new TUI BLUE Fieberbrunn in Tyrol for you. Wait a minute, the hotel hasn’t even opened yet, so what’s there to see? A lot, especially in and around Fieberbrunn. In the blog article you will find out everything about the hotel, as well as an exclusive room tip.

Austria Trend Fieberbrunn becomes TUI BLUE Fieberbrunn

The TUI BLUE Fieberbrunn operated until June 2019 as Austria Trend Hotel Fieberbrunn. Over the next few months, the hotel was renovated and reopened as the TUI BLUE Fieberbrunn on November 25, 2019. Together with my colleagues Dirk (social media) and Andrea (marketing at the TUI BLUE Fieberbrunn), I checked out the hotel and the surrounding area and tried quite a lot of pretty awesome activities.

Soon you’ll be able to enjoy the sun here as well – though whether with a hot cocoa or a glass of wine is up to you.

Alone in the Hotel TUI BLUE Fieberbrunn

During our visit, the hotel was a complete construction site: all the rooms were gutted, the indoor pool stood empty, the restaurant had no seating, and the sound of hammering and drilling filled the air… To be honest, it looked like a scene out of a post-apocalypse film. It’s a bit creepy at night in an empty hotel, but somehow also a cool playground (sadly, I’m not allowed to show these photos…). We were accommodated in the staff section and for the colleagues involved in the renovation, there was something delicious from the hotel kitchen. Of course, as a guest of the TUI BLUE Fieberbrunn, you can look forward to much more comfort and an extensive buffet in the morning and evening.

Hearty Tyrolean cuisine at TUI BLUE Fieberbrunn

So what will the TUI BLUE Fieberbrunn look like? The dining rooms will look much more modern and fresh than before. One of the dining rooms overlooks the courtyard, where barbecues and grilling will occasionally take place in the summer, and the other dining room offers a breathtaking window, through which you can admire the Steinplatte mountain range or the Jakobskreuz as you feast. As you already know from our first TUI BLUE hotel in Austria, the TUI BLUE Schladming, there will also be regional and seasonal Austrian cuisine in the TUI BLUE Fieberbrunn. The Tyrolean cuisine has us thoroughly convinced: hearty, simple, and delicious, for example, Tyrolean gröstl made from potatoes, bacon, onions, and a fried egg. Vegetarians needn’t worry. The kitchen is admittedly meaty, but Kaspressknödel or Kasspatzln (cheesy dough-noodles) are at least as delicious. In general, TUI BLUE always offers options for vegetarians and vegans, so they needn’t worry about fending off meat and fish dishes. While it’s unlikely you’ll lose weight eating Tyrolean cuisine, the TUI BLUE Fieberbrunn offers so many active programmes that you can afford to indulge – the calories will burn right off in no time.

Austrian cuisine

Whether hearty, sweet, or crisp and fresh, Austrian cuisine has a lot to offer.

Rooms at the TUI BLUE Fieberbrunn – From red to blue

You won’t recognise the rooms. New flooring, nicer sofas, different colours and furniture all offer fresh updates. It will look much more contemporary and stylish than before. Only two of the rooms have no balcony or terrace; these are the wheelchair accessible rooms. Some room types are suitable for 2 adults and 2 children, thanks to the additional sofa bed. Logically, you have the best view from the top floor. And now come the ultimate tips for a dream room: Room 415 (Duo Superior category) has a large arched balcony, from which you can see the sunrise behind the stone mountains in the morning and the sunset behind the Wilder Kaiser in the evening. The bath has a window facing the balcony. Room 406 (Duo Superior category) is located on the other side of the building, has a floor-to-ceiling window, and offers stunning views of the two mountain ranges from the large terrace. When the fire-red sky illuminates the outline of the Wilder Kaiser in the evening, it’s just magical! So you see, it’s worth spending a few euros more for your dream room. Soon you’ll be able to book your dream room online, but until then you can write an email to the hotel. All further information about the rooms can be found on the TUI BLUE website.

Family Holidays in Fieberbrunn

Fieberbrunn and the surrounding Pillersee Valley are extremely family-friendly destinations, whether in summer or in winter. Hotel manager Thomas Ries is himself a father of two and knows his way around with tips for families. At the moment, however, he roams around in the hotel from morning to night coordinating the renovation. During the hotel tour, he shows us the room that will later become the playroom, with painting tables and play equipment. Very handy, if the weather doesn’t cooperate. There is also a children’s buffet with the little ones’ favourite dishes. We’ve also tried some activities in the Pillersee Valley, most of which are also possible with kids. The regional tourism agency has a lot of information on its website on the topic of family holidays in the Pillersee Valley. From llama trekking, climbing, swimming lakes, mountain cart riding or pram-friendly hiking trails, to a circular hiking trail which is accompanied by an app, everything is just right for summer family holidays. For the mobile-addicted kids there is free WiFi in the hotel (for mobile-addicted adults too, of course). After all, if it wasn’t on Instagram, did you really go? 😉 And instagrammable places abound in the Kitzbühel Alps.

Tours for the whole family invite you to extensive hikes against a breathtaking backdrop.

Bummelnacht in Fieberbrunn

After a 20-minute walk you can get to Fieberbrunn, or you can take the bus (free of charge thanks to your guest card), or your own car. Fieberbrunn has a small quaint pedestrian zone, where the summertime “strolling nights”, or Bummelnächte, take place. For children there are so many great activities offered – I had to keep myself from storming the trampoline. We had a casual evening with live music and delicious food-truck burgers.

Cell phones off! Off to the mountains and to the BLUE Spa

Let’s face it: We check our smartphones far too often, and that just increases our stress levels. In the mountains, you’ll get rid of more than just the digital stress that keeps you from switching off. The meditative effect of the mountain world starts immediately when hiking in the Kitzbühel Alps. Afterwards, when the whole body is aching for a rest, you should pay a visit to the BLUE Spa of the TUI BLUE Fieberbrunn hotel. There is an indoor swimming pool, a Finnish sauna, an infrared sauna, and a steam bath. A massage works wonders after a day on the slopes or a hike. A small but fine BLUEf!t sports programme offers you fitness and relaxation courses under professional guidance. From December, you will find all information about the spa, activities programme, and excursions in the BLUE App.

Winter sports in the “Home of Lässig”

What you can do in the winter in Fieberbrunn is actually pretty self-explanatory: Skiing, snowboarding, cross country skiing, freeriding, snowshoeing, and much more in the Skicircus Saalbach Hinterglemm Leogang Fieberbrunn. 270 kilometres of pistes and 70 lifts in the “Home of Lässig” and there are always more being added. The Skicircus Saalbach Hinterglemm Leogang Fieberbrunn is on its way to becoming Austria’s largest connected ski area. Conveniently, the TUI BLUE Fieberbrunn is only a few steps away from the valley station of the gondola lift to the Doischberg. The children’s ski school is right next to the hotel. You’ll also get your own secure locker in the ski cellar of the hotel. Après-ski is right next door in the S4 Alm. For an all-night drinking fest à la “Anton from Tyrol” you’ll have to go somewhere else – Fieberbrunn is a family destination and it’s cosy. The upcoming winter season is already well-booked, so you should hurry and book your hotel stay soon.

Summer, sun, mountains

We had great late summer weather during our visit at the end of August, and were able to do really exciting things: River tubing, a climbing course, an archery course, off-road segway driving, mountain-cart driving, Tyrolean lodge cuisine in a mountain cabin, driving with Timok’s Alpine Coaster, and then unfortunately the week was over, even though there was still more to discover! These are all activities you can do with not too young children. We’ll tell you more about the activities in detail another time. Just visit the BLUE Blog regularly. By the way: With the guest card, which you get from the hotel, you can buy the Pillerseetal Card cheaper, which grants you many discounts on cable cars, lifts, and attractions. Certainly also an interesting destination for company outings, incentive trips, and meetings. The TUI BLUE Fieberbrunn has a meeting room for up to 80 people and even an escape room.

Regulars are welcome

The regular guests of the Austria Trend Hotel Fieberbrunn will certainly see a familiar face or two in the TUI BLUE Fieberbrunn. Among others Maayke, who might as well be a BLUE Guide with her knowledge of excursion tips and sunny personality. Alone her Tyrolean with a Dutch accent is sooooo cute that you can listen to her for hours. The Tyroleans we experienced as warm and uncomplicated people, even if we Hanoverians didn’t always understand everything. We’ll be back! Even though the infamous “Anton from Tyrol” torments me as an earworm…
