12 Dec Off to the Slopes – The Schladming-Dachstein Ski Area

Winter is coming, the best time for a skiing adventure in Schladming. The TUI BLUE Schladming offers the perfect starting point for racing down the slopes from the summit of the Planai. The Schladming ski area is an excellent starting point for your next skiing holiday. The Planai is located in the centre of the Schladming 4-mountain ski area, right on the doorstep of the TUI BLUE Schladming. The special feature: the Schladming-Dachstein region is also part of Ski amadé and offers true winter sports enthusiasts completely new opportunities to get to know the various ski areas in and around Schladming. Curious? You can find out more in this blog post.

The ski lift in the Schladming ski area takes you directly up to the Planai top.

Right on the Doorstep – The Schladming “Hausberg”, the Planai

How convenient! The TUI BLUE Schladming even has private tunnel access to the valley station for the Planai cable car. The cable car takes you directly to the Planai’s summit. The Planai is the “Hausberg” (home mountain) of Schladming, and the centre of the 4-mountain ski area. Several alpine skiing world champions have already raced down the slopes here. The highlight for the experienced slope-shredders among you is clearly the 4.6-kilometre-long FIS descent from the summit to the valley. Or how about the quick-shot track, where you can smash your personal speed record? 😉

Bright blue skies and white snow: a perfect day for skiing on the Planai.

Even for the casual skiers among you, the Schladming ski area has a lot to offer. A total of 123 kilometres of slopes, 98 cable cars, and guaranteed snow through state-of-the-art snow-making facilities await beginners, advanced skiers, professionals, and children.
In addition, 75 cosy mountain huts invite you to take a break with a wonderful view of the snow-white Alps. Here, the hot cocoa tastes twice as good.

Always a smile: After a short break in the cosy hut, it’s off to the slopes again.

Skiing in Austria’s Biggest Ski Area

As I already mentioned, the skiing region Schladming-Dachstein is also part of Ski amadé, Austria’s largest ski area. This means that it’s connected to the Salzburg Sportwelt, Gastein, Hochkönig, and the Grossarl Valley. But what does this mean for you? A whole lot! Because that gives you five times the skiing fun with the Skipass amadé. The range of ski slopes in the Alps that you can fly down can therefore be much wider. Whether you’re a beginning, advanced, or professional skier: you’ll find your favourite slope.

Schladming-Dachstein has even more to offer than skiing

A heads-up to all snowboarding fans: Are you ready for powder fields, steep gullies, and cliffs? The Horsefeathers Superpark in the Schladming ski area is one of the best snowboarding parks in Europe. There’s a perfect option for every skill level.
For experienced skiers, I can recommend the Dachstein Crossing. The ski crossing of the Alps leads past a UNESCO World Natural Heritage site. Find out the best option for you with the Blue Guides on site at the TUI BLUE hotel, or in the Blue App.

Are you more of a cross-country skier? In the municipality Ramsau am Dachstein, there are 220 kilometres of trails for cross-country enthusiasts. Alternatively, you can go snowshoeing past beautiful snowy landscapes.
My favourite is definitely the dog sled ride. Childhood dreams do come true.

An action-packed day in the Schladming ski area is coming to an end. In the evening, you can enjoy the winter Advent magic at one of the contemplative Christmas markets in Schladming with a hot mulled wine. And if you really want to plunge into the classic après-ski scene, you’ll find great après-ski parties at the Hohenhaus Tenne. And best of all: The location is within walking distance of the TUI BLUE Schladming.
