10 Jul Scuba Diving in Tunisia: Exploring Djerba’s Underwater Worlds
Colourful underwater worlds, mysterious shipwrecks, and unique fish species – diving in Tunisia is a real adventure with magnificent reefs. Dive into the breathtaking underwater depths off the island of Djerba. Thanks to a cooperation with the ABYSS Dive Center, the TUI BLUE Palm Beach Palace offers you numerous opportunities to pursue your underwater passion while on holiday. The biodiversity, the abundance of fish, and the mysterious shipwrecks from both world wars entice both beginning and advanced divers.
Stunning Diving Paradises in Tunisia
The dreamlike underwater world off the Tunisian coast is ideal for extended dives. Thanks to active environmental protection measures, the country’s environmental protection policy, and an intact ecosystem, the diving areas in Tunisia and the coastal landscape are in prime condition, unlike in other countries around the Mediterranean. You’ll be offered fantastic opportunities to discover some unexplored corners and a rich variety of fish in the crystal clear waters of Tunisia.
Go on a journey of discovery under the surface of the water: Whether diving to the old wrecks or discovering the great variety of underwater flora, there are many options for beginners and experienced underwater explorers in Tunisia.
Under the Sea – The Diving Spots around Djerba
One of the most popular diving spots is waiting for you right in front of the TUI BLUE Palm Beach Palace on the island of Djerba. Djerba’s diving areas will win you over with an abundance of fish that’s atypical for the Mediterranean Sea and a unique diving paradise. During a dive, you can often see nudibranchs, monkfish, bream, grouper, octopuses, or swarms of mackerel. An absolute highlight, however, are the sunken ships from the two world wars with countless old, yet well-preserved, ship paraphernalia, which you should really see.
Not far from the hotel is the ABYSS Dive Center, a diving school also recommended by TUI BLUE. The ABYSS Dive Center has high-quality equipment that’s regularly updated. In addition, there are trained and passionate diving instructors to introduce you to scuba diving in Tunisia.
Scuba Diving in Tunisia: The Wide Range of Diving Courses on Djerba
The ABYSS diving school offers you the option to purchase your diving license while on holiday. Both beginners and advanced divers can get their money’s worth here: from introductory diving, to the first small recognised diving license, to the advanced diver, everything is there.
A Taste of Scuba
Want to know what it’s like to dive? With the Discover Scuba Diving offer, you can find out if you enjoy diving without taking a whole diving course. What’s it like to breathe underwater? Find out! The DSD taster course is an ideal way to get introduced to diving in Tunisia in a fun and safe way. Learn the basics, which you can then practice underwater.
What to expect:
- Theory module + quiz
- A dive in “Confined Water”, i.e. in a swimming pool or in a limited and protected area in open water to learn the basic scuba skills (at 2 metres for 15 minutes)
- An open-water dive (at 6 metres for 30 minutes)
Note that this diving course is really only for a taste. It has no international validity. To obtain a diving certificate, you must complete the PADI or CMAS course.
The Internationally Recognised Scuba Diving Certificate
The diving school on Djerba, for example, offers the PADI Open Water Diver course. During the course, you’ll gain all the essential basic knowledge in order to be able to dive safely and responsibly. At the end, you’ll receive the PADI diving certificate. This has international validity and allows you to dive up to 18 metres deep anywhere in the world.
The course consists of:
- 5 theory modules + small final exam
- 5 dives in “Confined Water”
- 4 open-water dives (e.g. in a lake) to apply your skills and explore the underwater world
For Professionals – The Advanced Open Water Scuba Diving Course
Do you already have your first diving certificate and want to broaden your horizons in the world of scuba diving? With the Advanced Open Water Diving Course, you can improve your skills with various “adventure dives” and thus develop more self-confidence underwater. Under the supervision of a trained PADI diving instructor, you’ll get a taste of various special diving situations, such as night diving or deep diving. You’ll gain more and more diving experience.
The course consists of five different special dives, where you can explore the beauty of the reef and its enchanting flora and fauna. You can plan your course course individually with your diving instructor. Two of the five dives are mandatory – deep diving and underwater navigation. You’re free to choose the other three.
In addition to the diving courses, there are of course also individual dives, which you can book if you have the required diving certificate. Dive to the Octopus Rocks, explore the old wreck of the Palmaiola, or the Italian freighter Edda. You’ll definitely be thrilled!
So? Do you want to explore the underwater world by scuba diving in Tunisia? If you’re on holiday at the TUI BLUE Palm Beach Palace, I definitely recommend this diving paradise to you. It’s worth it!
